How EvTaxi handles your personal information
EvTaxi ehf. operates evtaxi.is and the booking system behind it. This page explains what personal information we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
We are the data controller. You can reach us at info@evtaxi.is or +354 790 3838, or write to EvTaxi ehf., Reykjavík, Iceland. We are licensed by Ferðamálastofa (the Icelandic Tourist Board) as an authorised day tour provider, licence no. 2022-062.
What we collect when you book
- Your name, phone number and email address
- Pickup and drop-off address, date, time and number of passengers
- Your flight number, when the trip starts or ends at Keflavík Airport
- Any notes you add, such as a child seat or an extra stop
- Whether you paid online in advance or on arrival, and the amount
We need this to carry out the trip you booked and to contact you if something changes. The legal basis is performance of our contract with you.
Card payments
Online payments are handled by Rapyd, our payment provider. You enter your card details on Rapyd's own secure page, and those details never reach our servers. We only receive confirmation of whether a payment succeeded, the amount, and a reference number.
When you contact us
If you use the contact form we store your name, email address, message and the IP address the message came from, so that we can reply and so we can block automated spam. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries and keeping the site usable.
Messages we send you
- Booking confirmations and receipts by email, sent through Zoho Mail
- Practical messages about your trip by SMS, sent through Nova (an Icelandic operator)
Cookies and tracking
This website uses no analytics, advertising or social tracking scripts. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no third-party profiling. A single functional cookie may be set to show you a status message after you submit a form. Staff who log in to our internal system receive a login cookie, which visitors never do.
How long we keep things
- Booking and payment records: seven years, because Icelandic accounting law requires it
- Contact form messages: while we deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards
- IP addresses used for spam and rate limiting: deleted automatically within one hour
- Reviews you send us for publication: until you ask us to remove them
Following your driver
When your driver is on the way, they can choose to share the car's position with you. If they do, we send you a link showing where the car is and roughly how long it will take to reach you.
- The driver switches this on themselves, for one trip at a time
- It shows only the car's current position, never a history of where it has been
- It stops when the driver switches it off or marks the trip as arrived
- The position points are deleted as soon as sharing stops, and in any case within 30 days
- The map is drawn with OpenStreetMap map tiles, which means your browser requests map images from openstreetmap.org
The link we send you is private to your trip. Anyone who has the link can see the car's position while the trip is running, so please do not share it more widely than you mean to.
Who else sees your information
Only the people who need it. Our drivers receive the details required to collect you: your name, phone number, pickup and drop-off, time, passenger count and flight number. They do not see payment information. We also rely on the service providers named above (Rapyd for payments, Zoho for email, Nova for SMS) and on our server hosting provider. We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we do not use it for advertising.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send it to you in a portable form. You can also object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Write to info@evtaxi.is and we will respond as quickly as we can.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can complain to Persónuvernd, the Icelandic Data Protection Authority, at postur@personuvernd.is.
Changes to this page
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page. Where the change is significant, we will say so here.
